Maga Billionaire Moves To Buy Universal Music Group
The New York Times reports:
The investment firm run by the billionaire financier Bill Ackman offered on Tuesday to buy Universal Music Group, home to Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny, and move its stock market listing to New York from Amsterdam.
The deal proposed by Mr. Ackman, a Universal Music shareholder who had previously pushed the company to move its listing to the United States, would lift the company’s fortunes, he said. The company’s share price “has languished due to a combination of issues that are unrelated to the performance of its music business,” Mr. Ackman said in a statement.
Mr. Ackman said that his offer would value Universal Music’s stock at about €55 billion ($64 billion), about 78 percent higher than it traded at the end of last week.
