Drawing from more than two decades of working with elderly people, the speaker brings attention to the growing number of older adults who are left without family, companionship, dignity, or access to basic care. Through personal experiences across India and Germany, the talk explores how loneliness can become as devastating as physical illness and questions whether our society is truly prepared for its ageing population. More importantly, it calls for a collective shift—from treating elderly care as a government responsibility to creating safe, dignified spaces where every person can feel valued, connected, and at home. The talk leaves us with a powerful question: What kind of world are we building for the older version of ourselves? Saurabh Bhagat is a humanitarian leader and international business advisor whose work lies at the intersection of social impact, global collaboration, and sustainable institutional development. He currently serves as the CEO of SHEOWS Global, one of India’s leading humanitarian organisations dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of abandoned and destitute elderly individuals.
