New Day Names Interim Ceo
Following the death of its CEO, New Day Healthcare has named its co-founder and chief operating officer, Kathy Poland, its interim CEO.
Poland brings several decades of home-based care leadership experience to the role, according to a statement from McKinney, Texas-headquartered New Day.
“Scott built New Day with a clear purpose—to provide exceptional care and to support the people who deliver it,” said Poland, in a statement. “Our leadership team has worked together for many years, and we are committed to supporting one another and our teams as we carry forward Scott’s vision. Our focus remains on the patients and families we serve and on the dedicated employees who care for them every day.”
New Day has also established an executive committee to lead all aspects of the organization. Its members include:
- Kathy Poland, Interim CEO
- Jeff Bonham, chief financial officer
- Phil Melugin, CEO of New Day’s Midwest Region and founder of Phoenix Home Care & Hospice, a New Day company
- Lester Simmons, chief administrative officer and chief people officer
Founded in 2020, New Day’s roughly 10,000 employees provide hospice, home health, pediatric and personal care to roughly 120,000 patients annually. The company offers services in Texas, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico and now Indiana. New Day is owned by the family office Kaltroco.
Since its founding, the company has completed 16 acquisitions. New Day’s strategy has largely centered on increasing market density, expanding into new markets, and co-locating its range of services.
