THE SOCIAL MEDIA ATTENTION ECONOMY

Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms make it easy to spend hours liking photos, watching reels, sending DMs, complimenting strangers, and comparing yourself with curated images. Attention is valuable. If following certain accounts leaves you distracted, frustrated, or stuck seeking approval, unfollowing them can be a useful boundary.

STOP CHASING. START BUILDING.

My message to men is simple: invest in yourself before investing heavily in someone who shows little interest in you. Work on your health, fitness, finances, confidence, communication skills, purpose, friendships, and discipline. Build a life you respect instead of trying to buy affection or entertain people who never reciprocate.

The Ask a Brother panel also discusses traditional gestures such as holding doors and going out of your way to make women feel special. I think the bigger lesson is to stop confusing kindness with a strategy for earning romantic attention. Basic courtesy and respect can remain part of your character; you don't have to abandon them to establish boundaries or stop overextending yourself.
