AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - Fright Fest returns to Six Flags New England this Saturday, Oct. 3, bringing seasonal scares and Halloween activities to the amusement park.

Free fall safety public festival coming to Northampton

The event features 200 performers, seven haunted zones and five haunted attractions.

The park has been decorated with Halloween and fall decor. While seasonal decorations are visible throughout the day, the scary attractions officially begin each night at 6 p.m.

Gregory Seymour, entertainment supervisor at Six Flags New England, noted that all character designs are made on site. “All the faces and stuff are created here by these artists, so if you are seeing a monster, you are seeing an original creation from one of our many talented artists,” Seymour said.

Each night, 200 performers sit in makeup chairs to transform into monsters before entering the park's haunted zones and attractions. The cast consists of both full-time and part-time scare actors from varied backgrounds.

Grace Peltier is participating in her third year as a performer at Fright Fest. Outside of her role at the park, she participates in dance competitions. “I am a competition dancer, so I've been used to glitzy glamy costumes, so it's very different coming in here and getting to be gory and scary,” Peltier said. “It's just totally opposite, which is why I love it.”

Brady Russell is returning for his sixth year as a Fright Fest performer. “It's a therapy. We get to come to work and scare people and then go home,” Russell said. “It's such a cool experience, it's such a good vibe. And when we get to perform and make other guests feel emotion, that is why I keep coming back.”

Fright Fest runs through Nov. 1. The event takes place every weekend, with select Fridays and Mondays open.
