New luxury community announced near Las Vegas
Investcor recently announced plans for a new luxury senior living community in Henderson, Nevada near Las Vegas, according to KLAS 8 News Now Vegas.
The community, known as Valara, will include independent living, assisted living and memory care on a singular campus and the plan is currently under local review, KLAS reports. The project will include 244 residences in a singular building with two residential wings and underground parking.
Amenities include Amenities include a tearoom and whiskey lounge, meals with dining options, restaurants and private dining rooms, a bar, gardening programs, classes, a movie theater, fitness centers with wellness programming, steam and sauna with outdoor pool, a recreation and activity calendar and a pet spa, according to the report.

Westminster Winter Park starts on cultural enrichment center
Westminster Communities of Florida has started construction on a cultural enrichment center to spur lifelong learning for senior living residents in the Westminster Winter Park life plan community and greater central Florida arts community, according to a news release.
The 375-seat Cultural Enrichment Center is designed to be a premier venue to transform how residents and the broader community connect and engage with the arts. The center will include a performance hall with acoustics, full accessibility and technology to allow for “high caliber programming.” The center will also include a reception area and a lakeview terrace.
“This will be a permanent center for knowledge, culture, and entertainment right here at Westminster Winter Park,” said Westminster Communities of Florida Chief Executive Officer Hank Keith. “For residents, this center will ensure that arts, culture, and learning continue to play a vital role in personal well-being and healthy aging. For future residents, it will serve as the clearest introduction to the vibrant, active, and enriched lifestyle that defines a Westminster community.”
Westminster Woods on Julington Creek expands IL options
Westminster Communities of Florida also broke ground on an independent living expansion at the Westminster Woods on Julington Creek, a life plan community in St. Johns, Florida, according to a news release.
The groundbreaking for the IL expansion, known as The Woodlands, will add 42 independent living apartment residences to support incoming demand for senior living options in the Jacksonville area.
The new IL residences will include designer finishes and include “several” amenity spaces designed to improve the lifestyle of the broader community. The expansion includes a new fitness center, waterfront bistro and a cultural enrichment center.

Design firm KTGY finishes affordable senior housing development
Design firm KTGY recently announced the completion of a new senior housing affordable development known as The Lodge at Autumn Willow near Washington, D.C., according to a news release.
The community includes 150 apartments for older adults earning 30% to 60% of the area median income. The community’s lodge design and sustainability were core parts of the project design and features organic materials, abundant natural light and “seamless indoor-outdoor integration” to promote biophilic design principles.
The two-story community is an asymmetrical H-shaped plan that follows the site’s natural topography aimed at helping residents navigate the community with ease. The community is designed to meet EarthCraft Gold, Energy Star, and Zero Energy Ready Home standards.
