[brooklyn, Ny] Partner Received 2nd Degree Burns While Receiving A Physical Therapy Treatment
Location: Brooklyn, NY
My partner has been going to this beauty/health clinic to receive treatment for her upper back. She's been seeing one practitioner for a few weeks and one week, she was out. My partner then saw another practitioner for this visit. The sub started to do shockwave therapy to help treat my partners upper back. She's received this before from her usual practitioner and thought nothing much of it.
My partner began to feel that the treatment was too intense but said nothing as she believed it to be normal. Later that day, my partner noted that her upper back was in pain and when she came over, it looked like she had scrapes on her back. She went to the urgent care and the doctor said that she had a 2nd degree burn and those scrapes were likely blisters that had broken. The doctor said that it may lead to scarring.
I told her to make the business aware of what had happened and she was told to just apply Vaseline and no soap. Not sure of the full context of the conversation as my partners mom spoke to them.
I'm not sure how to word my question so mods, please let me know but should we seek a personal injury lawyer and if so, what should we prepare from our end? And if the business offers compensation, should we refuse it for now?
