[michigan] State Farm Terminating Loss Of Wages

Card image cap

Location: Michigan

Writing on behalf of a family member. He was in a motorcycle accident and the other driver was at fault. They were with state farm and state farm agreed to pay the medical bills, loss of wages etc. It's been 2 years since the accident. My friend had multiple fractures and tbi. He is still recovering. He cannot stand for long or squat or lift heavy things or raise his arms for long. He used to be an oil change technician but cannot do that in his present condition. His surgeon last saw him in Aug and gave a disability letter stating the same. State farm had us go to an independent medical evaluator and based on their assessment stopped loss of wages. I have the ime report which confirms he has physical limitations but apparently state farm doesn't agree. What are his options here? What are the odds of winning an appeal or challenging their decision? An injury lawyer wants to charge $400 an hour before he can even talk to him and my friend is trying to avoid that if possible. Please and thank you
