(tw: Csa) I Was Sexually Abused For Five And A Half Years And Want To Report As An Adult
Location: Central Wisconsin
My middle school/high school boyfriend (26M) sexually abused me (23F) from the ages of 12 to 18. TW for some details regarding the abuse, but will keep it as general as possible.
I was molested for the first time at the age of 12, and then legally raped (per Wisconsin's definition of sexual intercourse) by the age of late 12/early 13. First, it started as doing things as "surprises," then through coercion (repeated no's until pressured into said act through verbal abuse), then physical force. My parents, sister, and middle school friends knew that I was sexually active, and my parents and sister were partially witnesses to it (I have no doubt they heard it, and my mother had found that I had sent explicit photos of myself to him). His mother likely knew we were sexually active. Many, many people knew about our relationship and the age difference. I have medical records that report repeated infections at the age of 14 (not STIs, but still associated with CSA), which led to an eventual pap smear. I had started birth control at 15. I had indicated in my medical records that I was sexually active at 14 in some appointments, but in others, I had not. I have diary entries that discuss the abuse. I have been receiving mental health services since I was 12 years old, although I did not report the assault until I was 18. He openly abused me in other ways that several others knew about, such as by drowning me in a swimming pool, verbally berating me, or not allowing me to cut my hair or wear certain clothes. Other people did not report or attempt to intervene because of this, or due to sheer ignorance around CSA. I grew up in a small community that is generally anti-sex education.
- How do investigations of this matter work? Do investigators ever perform investigations undercover? I have zero doubt he would admit to committing sexual acts prior to when I was 15 (from my understanding, the law becomes less severe after 15 years old) in a conversation. Does this warrant a private investigator?
- If I had sent photos to him prior to the age of 18, would he have any power to get me in trouble/turn that on me?
- Apologies for the broader question: is there a case here? What do I need to prepare?
Thank you for your support.
