12k Deposit Into My Account And Company Said It’s Mine
Location: California
It’s for my son’s life insurance account. He is only 10 years old. I pay $20/month only. One week ago, I received a check from that account for $8000. The rest of the money, $4000 is sitting in the life insurance account. I can technically take that $4,000 out too. They said I overfunded my account. I never made a deposit. I’ve already called 4 times and they keep telling me I can cash the check. There is no proof of the deposit, besides the fact that $12,000 was in my account. The life insurance company only accepts deposits from a check or money order. There isn’t any proof of the check, wire or money order, nothing on my account. The $12,000 deposit was made 9/4/2026.
My guess is the person who made the deposit, might’ve made a mistake on their policy number. Maybe off by one number or letter. They probably also got an email saying, their deposit went through.
I know for myself, I never have checked my life insurance account ever. So I’m thinking this person just received an email confirmation and never checked their account. Especially if it’s a 6-7 figures death policy.
I have NOT cashed the check and if I do, I won’t spend it. I am a place where I don’t need the money. I’m not excited or anything becuase I know they may ask for it back.
I don’t know what to do?!!
