About To Get Evicted

I desperately need help.

My family has had to live in a converted bus in Colorado, after a fire took our home. We are currently entangled in a frustratingly long lawsuit against the town who illegally seized our property, refused to let us rebuild, then forbade us from living there… but that’s a whole other story.

After being forced to leave, we ended up in an RV park in another county. We’ve been here for two and a half years… my husband and I have jobs, our disabled daughter is in school… we have a life here. Now all of a sudden, the park has changed the rules, and are now saying that we no longer meet the “curb appeal” expectations. The options they gave us to stay were to get the bus professionally painted (which would cost more than the bus is worth), or to completely replace the unit. They gave us 60 days to “fix” the problem, but we cannot afford either option. We’re about to reach the deadline, and despite searching, we have not been able to find another housing solution that we can afford. Basically we’re about to get evicted for being ugly, and being too poor to do anything about it.

Here’s the kicker. This notice came suspiciously close to us making an ADA accommodation request so our daughter could safely access the school bus stop… which they denied. My husband believes that this is retaliation, and they can’t evict us… but I’ve yet to find anyone who can help us navigate the legalities. My fear is that because they’re an RV park versus a mobile home park, the rules may be different.

Is there anyone out there who can advise me on how to fight this? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
