Abuser Potentially Getting A Retrial?
Location: Georgia.
I (19f) and my four siblings were all sexually abused as kids by my stepfather (their real father) for over a decade. He was locked away a few years ago and I’ve struggled to live a normal life because of it. The evidence wasn’t just our testimony but also pictures he took of us and my mother which he showed off, distributed, ect. Including crossing state lines to abuse us when he worked out of town.
I heard that one of my step-siblings (we haven’t really talked since we all escaped it) recently told someone that they lied. They didn’t, but the pressure from my step-grandmother might have pushed her to admit this because she owns lots of the family property and still defends her son’s actions after years.
Would one witness actually be enough to get him a retrial? There’s four others of us, and they have pictures, but not I cant help but think about what’ll happen if he’s released. He’s a violent man who owned lots of guns and more than once threatened our lives. If he gets out I can’t and won’t let him get near me, not after dealing with the trauma for so long even after escaping.
