Amazon Driver Hit My Car. They Told Me To Kick Rocks. Would Talking To A Lawyer Be Worth It?

Location: Michigan

So a month ago, an Amazon Delivery driver - in their commercial vehicle - was driving in front of me, made a left hand turn and then, as I was driving past, made an illegal uturn and slammed into my car. It had to be towed away from the accident.

Cops shrugged and said "You did nothing wrong. I'm not writing either of you a ticket since it's a no fault state."

Filed a claim with Amazon. They told me I'd be reimbursed for damages and a rental car. 3 weeks later, still fighting with them to move it along. Was told on my 7th phone call that it was in the wrong department. They have to transfer it to insurance instead of them (a intermediary?).

4 days later I call back and am told that my car was deemed a total loss and they were generating an estimate for my payout. Call back 4 days later and am told it's being transferred to insurance...again??

Finally hear from the new adjuster (never did hear from the first one) and she said that because Michigan is no fault, they are denying my claim. End of conversation.

I told her that I'd been dealing with this for a month now, was told multiple times it was going to be covered, and that less than a week ago was told I'd be getting a check and had been walked through that process already. She said sorry, nothing I can do.

1. Is there anything I can do here? My dad wants me to talk to a lawyer, but I wanted to see if that would be worth my time. I don't want an insane payout. I just want my car fixed - just drivable. I don't even care about the dents!

2. If I should go to a lawyer, am I okay to start repairing my car? It's still sitting in my driveway. I'm assuming I'd need to keep all my receipts and such, but will me getting work done now affect anything?

If it helps/matters: it's a 2009, paid cash 6 years ago, PLPD insurance.

Thanks for any advice you can give. I've never had a car accident before, much less something like this.
