Apartment Is Charging For 7 Days Post Move Out. Video Evidence To Prove Move Out Was On The Correct Date

Location: Orem Utah
My brother rented an apartment in Utah, and I was also listed on the lease but live in California. We gave the required 30-day notice, and everyone moved out by July 31, the agreed move-out date. The keys and key fobs were left inside the apartment, which management confirms was permitted. Along with VIDEO evidence that proves everyone moved out on the correct date and fobs were left inside.
Management is now charging us for seven additional days because they claim:
They did not receive a separate notification that we had “officially vacated,” even though the required termination notice had already been provided; and
Fobs associated with the account showed activity through August 7.
We cannot explain that activity because nobody on the lease returned after July 31. We asked for the complete fob records and corresponding surveillance footage showing who actually entered. Management claims “strict housing laws” require them to apply their procedures consistently and prevent them from waiving the charges, but they also only keep surveillance footage for 7 days. Will any lawyer even be able to help with this?
