Apartment Sent Me A Lease Renewal With The Wrong Rent, I Signed It And Now They Want Me To Sign Another One
My lease is up soon and my apartment complex emailed me a renewal through their resident portal. It listed my correct name, unit number and lease dates, but the rent was only increasing by $25. I signed it and a few days later the property manager signed it too. I downloaded the completed copy.
Yesterday they called and said the rent amount was a mistake and that offer was supposed to go to a different unit. My actual increase is apparently $240 a month. They removed the signed renewal from my portal and sent me a new one with the higher amount.
I emailed them the PDF I downloaded and they basically said it doesn't matter because it was an obvious clerical error.
I'm in a good place financially so the increase itself isn't an emergency, but $215 extra every month is obviously significant and I wouldn't have renewed here if that was the original offer.
Can they just cancel the lease after both of us signed it because they entered the wrong rent? Also does them removing it from the portal matter if I still have the signed copy?
