Being Illegally Threatened With Unsafe Discharge

Card image cap

Location: Ohio

I'm a senior who lives for the time being in an assisted living facility which I can no longer afford, so I've been signing up for local HUD/MHA properties. Unfortunately, I lost a 30 day discharge appeal hearing (non payment) and have two weeks to find another assisted living facility, which I can't afford, or the administrator tells me that, upon the last day, September 4th, they will go to the courts and I will be issued a 3 day notice to vacate. On that third day, the bailiff will come and throw me out. I've no family, friends, etc. And am alone in this world. The current facility, to the best of my knowledge, has no safe place to which to discharge me. No safe place was named in neither the discharge paperwork nor in the appeal hearing. Yet, I'm being threatened with an unsafe discharge.

I'm also being threatened with Involuntary discharge to a nursing home, which I'd rather die on the streets than enter. I've been through ten nursing homes, all but one have committed illegal discharges against me. And there's no way I would pass the PASRR at this point, and at that I'm relieved. (legal note: PASRR is mandatory for nursing home entry regardless of payment method).

I've even called police to inquire about their methods of discharge from an assisted living facility; they even told me that I would be led away and forced off the property, even though it's technically illegal to discharge a resident to an unsafe place. I'm confused at this point, severely depressed, knowing I'm in danger of death on the streets.

I've been spiraling all day. Even the ombudsman can offer no legal recourse. I'm so alone, scared to death, crying and listening to sad music. That's why I put this subject here. Maybe somebody has an answer. I hope so. Otherwise, my life will soon be in danger, in September anyway.
