Boss Is Trying To Force Us To Rip Out And Puncture Active Gas Lines

Card image cap

Location: Missouri .For context I work for a foundation repair company in Missouri , today we had a job in which we were sent to Iowa to do structural work on this elderly ladies house that includes push piers and helicles . As soon as we arrived at the location we saw the utility company had marked where the gas lines were and it happened to be very close to the house (about 1-2 feet) . We decided to dig with a shovel to find the gas line to see if it was further away or closer , as soon as we found it we realized it was only about a foot from the house so we couldn’t use our excavator or get a bracket in there to do a pier . Well my foreman contacted our boss and our GM . Our GM became very irate because we’d be losing $14,000 on the job . He’s now advised us that either we go back tomorrow and rip out the gas lines and do the work and have the fire department and utility company shut it off and then we rip out the rest and do the piers then the utility company can fix it . The only other option was we get a write up and possibly fired . Advice would be greatly appreciated.
