Bought A Lemon For Business. ????1 Year Later. Now What??

In October 2025, we bought a 2018 International Durastar 4300 truck in MI from a highly rated dealership. We bought it believing it was an Allison transmission. It's all over the paperwork.

Less than a year later, in August, we start having transmission problems and find out it's an Eaton. It's widely known that Allison is fsr superior with a long life expectancy. $12k - 18k expense. It was misrepresented. Even if the truck ran fine, if we wanted to resell, it wouldn't get nearly the same value as a truck with an Allison transmission.

We're told to file a complain. I plan to, but honestly, I'm at a loss. Not sure how much would feel like enough compensation to feel whole and fair in this given we never would have wanted it. We were robbed of the chance to walk away if the info were correct in the beginning. But we've already used it for almost a year to make an income.

My question is, if the dealership refuses to respond fairly, do we have a case here? Would lawyers care or take this seriously? We are out of work right now because of the repair. Paying that price for something we never wanted seems unreasonsable. What's reasonable, legal and fair to ask for when filing a complaint? Are we protected by consumer protection laws here?
