Can An Undocumented Honduran With Terminal Cancer Fly Back Home From The Us Using Just A Passport?
Location: Georgia, USA Hello everyone, I am posting anonymously to ask for urgent logistics and legal guidance for a close acquaintance.
A Honduran national currently living undocumented in the United States has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. They want to fly back to Honduras to spend their remaining time with their family. They currently hold a valid, unexpired Honduran passport.
Our primary concerns are:
**TSA/Airport Security:** Will they encounter issues using a Honduran passport to pass through TSA security for a flight departing from a major airport?
**Exit Logistics:** Does the U.S. government actively block undocumented individuals from leaving the country at the airport gate, or is the penalty strictly on the *re-entry* side? (We know leaving will trigger a multi-year ban, but they do not intend to return).
We are also worried about ICE detention.
