Can Hr Make Me Sign Away My Rights To Hippa?

I recently got electrically shocked by my computer monitor at work. It wasn’t a big deal, but my supervisor took it really seriously and told me to go home because at that point we weren’t sure what the problem was or whether my workstation was safe. She then talked to HR, who had me adjust my timesheet to take administrative leave due to being injured. Then, my supervisor kept insisting I go to get checked up, even though I felt fine, and even insinuated that HR wanted me to as well. So I finally caved and went to urgent care. My supervisor told me to make sure to tell the urgent care that it was a workers comp visit, so I did.

Now, several weeks later, HR reached out to me freaking out asking if I had ended up going to the doctor. I said yes, I did, and nothing was wrong with me medically. However, she asked for the after visit summary to file. I agreed to this because it only had medical information pertaining to that one visit. The next day however, she sent over five other documents for me to sign. Almost all of them are HIPPA release forms stating that I permit my employer to have access to my entire medical record in perpetuity until I revoke access, at which point any information they’ve gathered up until that point is fair game. I do not feel comfortable signing these, and told HR as much.

I sent a response basically saying that I was not seriously injured from the event and I would prefer not to release my medical records just for the purpose of having that one visit reimbursed. I told her I will just pay the bill myself. However now, she’s telling me I need to come in to discuss this in her office at 1. Is she going to force me to sign those papers? Have I done anything wrong? I was only following the insistent suggestions of my supervisor and if I knew this would be so much of a headache I never would have gone to urgent care in the first place. NM is also a one party consent state, do you suggest I record this meeting? Thank you for any advice.
