Car Accident, Other Driver Uninsured. What Can I Do?
On Saturday March 21 2026 I came down to a car accident outside my apartment. ( Location: Chicago, Illinois ) which included my car and the other driver. I asked driver if she was ok and she was a little shocked at the situation. She explained to me what happened with the evidence she gave me I called the cops because she claim she was hit by another driver which caused her to hit my parked car. Police come and take our reports and we exchanged information. The police report stated she was hit at around 330am and I had came down to my car at 615. So for 3 hours she just sat there. The weekend passed and in that following Monday she had texted me saying she wants to handle this without insurance. insurance has possession my car and determines is it totaled. I was also informed that her insurance policy she gave me was expired for many years and she currently did not have any insurance. I texted her updates and progress and she did not respond. Days later I get the payout summary for the car and I text her again asking to be reimbursed for my deductible and other fees. No response. I texted her one final time asking how she wants to move forward with this. I even tell her I will go to court if I have too. She still didn’t respond. Any advice how I can go about this?
