Car With Existing Unrepaired Damage Already Paid Out By Previous Insurance Claim Was Somehow Struck Again In The Exact Same Spot By A Mobile Home Hauling Company

Bear with me here, still kinda freaking out and rambling.

So some months ago, I have a car that was struck while parked on my curb. The other diver's insurance paid up swiftly and promptly, and surprisingly well. The payout was in the ballpark of $5,000, but since I chose to keep the car they subtracted $900 from that payout.

I decided to keep the car since besides replacing the broken tail light, it still mechanically works just fine and still drives well and all, besides a damaged quarter panel. Went to the scrap yard, pulled out a new light and installed it myself, life goes on.

Today, my trailer park community was getting around to finally hauling and installing new mobile homes onto the empty lots in the park. My car was parked up on my driveway off the street, but these things are huge. They clipped my car and somehow more or less hit the exact same spot and broke the tail light again, alongside some scratches on the back driver side door. The scratches are superficial on said door, and the major damage is almost literally just deeper dents in already existing damage. Previous insurance already ruled that it wasn't feasible to fix it and just paid out, so deeper damage on the exact same spot, especially since 'restore to the previous state' is still just like, putting a foot of dirt back into an already 5 foot deep hole.

Now, here's where I come for advice. I got no calls, no notice, no knocks, nothing. I went out in the morning to get groceries, go home, then when I go out later I see the damage and dangling tail light. I go to management to report it, management seemed to have an excuse at the ready and immediately tried to say that damage was already there.

To make a long story short, I eventually got the phone number of the guy who was driving the little bulldozer hauling thing, and he offered to make me square personally without getting insurance involved. Neither he nor management would budge on actually offering the number or name of their actual company. It's on record via a notification on his own call that he now has a recording of me agreeing to simply accepting a replacement tail light and $100 and calling it even.

Now, my question is, was this stupid of me?

Going off the buyback scrap pricing of $900 from the previous insurance claim and the damage being almost identical to what it previously was while also not really changing the actual usability of the car besides a headlight that would cost me $35 to replace myself. I also learned today that this will very likely count as collision over compressive coverage, when I stupedly assumed this falls under the bounds of my insurance, and my agent seemed to think my policy doesn't cover this, so if I try to peruse anything it wont be with the backing of my own insurance to hound them.

Supposing my insurance does back me on this, however, what would the potential most optimistic outcome possibly be here, and is this worth pursuing further? Is there any possibility for anything more than the probably very low value of my now beater car?
