Cleaner Quoted £22 Ph, Sent 2 People For 5.5 Hours, Then Invoiced 11 Hours — Am I Being Unreasonable?
I booked a deep clean with a local cleaning business upon a recommendation..
Before booking, I explicitly asked for pricing and was told “a deep clean is £22 an hour.” Nothing else was explained — no mention of per-cleaner pricing, minimum hours, estimated total, or written quote.
On the day, two cleaners attended for about 5–5.5 hours.
Afterwards, I was invoiced £245, calculated as £22 × 11 hours (because two cleaners × 5.5 hours each) and apparently if she did it solo it would have taken her 12 hours. Bare in mind this is a clean, 3 bed house, not sure on what planet this would take 12 hours to clean.
This pricing model was never explained to me beforehand, I have agreed to pay what I was advised which is the cost per hour for 5.5 hours.
They are “threatening” legal action for the outstanding amount.
Am I being unreasonable for paying what I understood was agreed, or should the per-cleaner / person-hour pricing have been made clear upfront?
