Collecting Last Paycheck Via Final Demand, Threatened With Legal Fees.

Location: Michigan

I had been fired from my last job several weeks ago, my final paycheck was supposed to be delivered that Sunday. I had sent my boss multiple texts asking to pay me, which he just lectured me and so on and so fourth, part of the reason I gave up working there.

So after he started to ghost my requests after we discussed the hours I had left to be paid, I asked a final time via text to pay me my hours. I had visited the shop many times attempting to catch him there to talk with him to never find him around. So I left a letter of a Final Notice for Unpaid Wages, which he certainly received as he blew up my phone with texts.

He had said I need to IMMEDIATELY meet with him so he can pay me + have me sign a document saying I've been paid. (He has access to all of my personal information to mail me by check, pay electronically, etc.) He had also threatened I would have to pay his legal fees if I dont show up and sign whatever document he wants me to sign.

Am I boxed into paying for his lawyer because I want to fight for my paycheck???
I dont think so but I'd really like some help on this.
