Company Has Been Cyberstalking And Harassing Me
Location: North Carolina
Late last year, I made a video online discussing some of the racial insensitivities of a former employer. This was at a time when many other former employees were doing the same, I just added my 2 cents.
Ever since, this company has been cyberstalking and harassing me. I have had them blocked on all known platforms since August 10, 2024. The former owner claims to have stepped down but does not clarify their position.
This behavior began in December, they began sending DMCAs of old photos that had me in them online. All DMCAs list this company as being the reporter.
Because they have the rights to these photos, having taken them, I did not think much of it. The concern here, was that they are still accessing my profile(s) through nefarious means, despite being requested to no longer contact me.
For reference; on Instagram, if you block someone, the platform automatically blocks any other profiles they may have, and any profiles they may create in the future. All of the photos they reported, were several years old, some dating back to 2019. They managed to access my profile(s) on multiple occasions for weeks, confirmed by the DMCA reports they sent over the course of a month. Despite being blocked on all fronts, including any known employees.
Around this time, I consulted with an attorney.
During this, I reached out to them (by email) to ask if they would like me to remove any remaining photos. They ignored this email, and kept sending DMCA requests on very old photos. (In reality, it was maybe only 4 or 5 photos? I sent the email after the first 2)
At one point, during this, I received an email from LinkedIn notifying me that an employee (likely the owner) of this company had viewed my profile.
Today (02/07) this company began sending DMCAs on my own video content that they absolutely do not have rights to. I reached out to the “new” owner, who claims the company has no involvement. However, after reaching out, the DMCAs were mysteriously removed, and my content was restored.
Of particular note, despite my regular (nearly daily posting) the main video to be reported and removed was when I was discussing the racial sensitivities of this former employer from months ago.
The owner tells me to reach out to the man I made the video about, but the reports are listed under the business name. So I have no reason to do so, and have not.
We share a lot of the same spaces due to our positions of work. This is a pattern of behavior for this “former” owner, and there are even young women who have left the state due to his stalking and harassing behavior.
I am wondering if it is worth it to pursue a protective order, or for cyberstalking and harassment, since they are going out of their way to continuously and regularly interact with my online presence out of malice, and fear for the way they may behave towards me in person, since we frequently work similar events.
This company is known to (with regular frequency) stalk and harass young women in this space, with years long proof, many of whom reached out to me in private after I posted telling my experience with this man, to commend me for doing so since they feared it.
