Company Took Out Benefits, But Didn’t Pay The Insurance Company. We Are Uninsured After Paying For Benefits.
My husband was laid off this month. We live in Kentucky. Company is in Arizona. The entire company folded. He was told that we would have health insurance until the end of the month.
Today, we needed to take our daughter to the doctor. I couldn’t find the new insurance cards we enrolled with in October as I don’t believe we ever received them. We log into United to print them and the policy isn’t there, only showing an older policy with a previous employer. We call United and gave them the group number that’s listed on Rippling under benefits. I look at a letter we received yesterday and it states coverage started and ended on December 1st, 2025.
Looking at paystubs, they’ve been taking out benefits for health, vision, dental, disability, and life insurance totaling $700 each check. None of them are active or even started policies.
We paid for the doctor visit out of pocket, but my question is this:
-What is the proper recourse?
-Is this theft or fraud?
-Which states labor board do we contact? Company is located in another state. Location: Kentucky & Arizona
