Confused On Where To File…
Location: Oregon/Idaho, US
I am looking to modify my child support order as I recently was laid off and unable to find equal employment. I went from making about $110k to $60k. When I was laid off and unable to provide support payments my ex started to make things difficult and I haven’t been able to see my child in about 6 months as there is always an excuse for why they’re unavailable.
About 2 months ago my ex moved from Oregon to Idaho without notifying me and I found out when I received child support paperwork from Idaho.
I’m trying to figure out which state I need to file a request to enforce visitation and a child support modification request in. What is the best way to go about this? Unfortunately on my new salary I don’t have a lot of spare income to be able to hire an attorney. I’m continuing to try to look for a higher paid role but don’t want to leave this until that point so wanted to file the paperwork myself but can’t figure it which state to file in.
