Cop Keeps Calling Me After I’d Gotten A Citation

two days ago I received a citation for theft 2. I have a court date in my ticket/citation. today I have been receiving calls over and over from one number, no voicemail left. then I get a text from that number asking if this is me and using my full name. I do not respond or pick up. then I get a call from my mom (I’m 28 btw not a minor) and she tells me she received a call from a police officer telling her I’m involved with a huge amount of theft and that I will likely be arrested and that I need to pay a fine of $1000 dollars and theres a chance I’ll still get arrested, he even mentioned he’s looking for someone that was with me who also received the same citation I did and also has a court date. she was skeptical it was a scam so she got his name and badge number and called the police station and verified that this guy is indeed a cop and thats his badge number. she explained the situation to the lady on the phone and asked if thats legit and the lady said yeah it could be.

a little bit later my boyfriend calls that number and asks who he is and his response matches the name and stuff and the officer asks why he’s calling. my boyfriend said because this number has called someone he knows over and over. the officer says he calls a bunch of people a day who is this pertaining to. my boyfriend doesn’t say and just tells him that this is super unprofessional behavior to harass people with calls and texts all day. then the officer says is this about *my name*? boyfriend doesn’t acknowledge that and just continues scolding him then hangs up. so the officer calls people all day but says my name even though boyfriend never mentioned or hinted to me. makes it feel a bit more targeted.

I’m feeling like this is a scam or this particular officer is trying to extort me. maybe in his mind, given I have no criminal record, I’m likely naive and may give in to his harassment. I will continue ignoring is calls and have advised my mom to do the same. I will not engage with this and just show up to court on my court date.

does this sound valid or like a scam or potential extortion? thankful for any advice!
