Cyber Law On Websites Locking Accounts Based On 15+ Year Old Information

Card image cap

I had an account on a game website since I was a child that I used up to last year lightly and just found out it was locked this year for reasons they won't disclose. They said they need me to prove its mine by providing them with either the name of an item I purchased from their online store with real money (even if i remembered what I bought as a child, I wouldnt remember the names of the items), or provide them with any usernames of my friends (almost all the usernames on there were like random words and numbers, and I didnt add anyone i knew personally so wouldnt remember it). Location: the company is based in california usa, but im in another continent

Basically theyre holding my account - with real money purchases on it - hostage for memories of a past child. They never sent any email receipts for items or friend requests, even if they did my elderly father would have had to sift through emails to get them. Most websites ask for security questions, your birthday, or other tangible proof. I sent them the original email i signed up with since its the only thing i had and emailed them from that email but they said its insufficient and their decision to lock it is final.

Is this legal for a company to do? If i pay a lawyer would i be able to do something about it since real money was involved or thats it?
