Daughter Threatened With Death At School

First: can I name the school in a Facebook post if they don’t do anything. (This was included in the first post by the way) or is that someway against the law/can I get in trouble.

Second: What am I legally allowed to know about this situation from the school? Are there guns at home locked up? When does he come back to school? Why aren’t they moving his class?

Third: What can I legally do if the bullies family relationship with the president of the school board protects him and not the victims.

Fourth: can I file for and get a restraining order with just this information. It’s the first threat of harm but it’s a huge escalation from the bullying to this.

Fifth: what are my legal rights in Georgia for my child to be protected by the school? Laws that require they do specific things since there is a gun at home and a threat of death was made?

My 1st grade child has had an issue with a bully since kindergarten. Typical kid bully stuff but it was being worked through. Then this Wednesday the bully threatened them and another child in the class that he would get his dad’s gun, bring it to school, and shoot and kill them. This kid is also in 1st grade and the same class as my child.

I have already reached out to a lawyer but don’t officially have one yet. I’m worried because:

The school can’t tell me the full disciplinary actions due to privacy laws.

They did say they don’t plan to remove him from the class to a different one.

The assistant principal has highlighted in our conversation that the child is 6 and they didn’t mean it and it’s stuff kids say. I quote “me and my brother used to say we were going to kill each-other growing up. We didn’t mean it.”

The bullies father is an “old city family” with a lot of connections including being bffs with the president of the school board.

I feel so powerless at this moment. My child told me the are scared and I can’t even warn them about when the bully will be back in class. I feel backed into a corner and that nothing will be done. What do I do?

The incident was reported to the school resource officer but I don’t know if that means it was reported to the actual police department and a file started. I will be going there today after a meeting in person with the principal and assistant.

I don’t want this kid around mine and if it was up to me the wouldn’t be allowed back to the same school. I made an anonymous post (maybe dumb I know) with no identifiable information provided in the city Facebook group. If this doesn’t get movement can I name the school to hopefully light a fire under them? Can I go to the news?
