Dealership Can’t Find Out What Wrong With My Car.
Hello and thanks in advance for the responses. I purchased a used 2022 Toyota Camry on June 8th 2026 from a dealership in my area. It was a third-party dealer. Within the first 30 days the car went into limp mode. I bought the vehicle with an extended warranty. It was an evening and the dealership had its own service department. I pulled off the highway and so happened to pull into a lot with a Dobbs Tire & Auto shop. I asked them to run a diagnostic on the car. They determined that it was misfire in priston 3 code P0303. I had it towed to the dealers service department. They kicked the can down the road past the 30 day period, telling me they drove the vehicle and could replicate the issue and the check engine light is no longer on. They instructed me to pick up the vehicle and if it goes down again have it towed to their shop using their preferred tow company. They held the car for almost a week. I had to find alternate transportation. They did give me a loaner. I picked the vehicle up after being told they couldn’t do anything with it. It happened again I took it to a Toyota dealer. The car had 48,000 miles or so at purchase. It is still under powertrain warranty through Toyota. This time I take it to my local Toyota dealer. They say they drove it around and couldn’t replicate the issue. I’ve now spent $400 on diagnostics. The diagnostic information from Dobbs was shared with the dealership and the service dept, prior. Now we are outside of the 30 days window for the extended warranty. They say they can’t find anything wrong except something I can’t remember now. They replace it and I pay the tax and fees. I drive the car. For a few days of work and home, the car drives fine. Randomly I get a ruff idle but the car doesn’t go into limp mode. A week or some days later the cars into limp mode again. I let them know and the car is now back at the dealers service department and has been for about 2 weeks now. They have t called to update me and they did provide a loaner this time. They told me they purchased some device that can be plugged into the car and can read codes while it is being driven. I want to know what I should do now. I have gotten a loan for this vehicle and been making car payments for a vehicle that I have only been able to drive for a month and a week or two since June 08th. I’m am so lost and don’t know what to do… I need advice on my next steps? location: Missouri
