Disputing Charges From A Plumber
Location: Michigan
I recently had some plumbing work done by a company I've used multiple times in the past. I had a pinhole leak in my shower drain that caused water damage and a small amount of mold. I signed two contracts with the plumber. One to open up the drywall and diagnose the problem and another to perform the work needed to fix the leak. It was an expensive job and it sucked to shell out the money but it needed to be done. The work was completed and I paid the invoices in full at time of completion.
I liked this company because every time I've used them they've clearly explained all charges and gone over the contracts with me and required my signature before any work was started.
A week or two after they left, I get an email from their office with an invoice for the water damage and mold remediation they did for about $1100. Now, they did perform this work but these charges were never explained to me and I never signed a contract for anything on this invoice. I've asked for an explanation as to why I'm being charged for work I never signed off on twice. And twice the guy said he'd get back to me but never does. I just got another reminder email about the unpaid invoice.
Do I have to pay this invoice? How far do I push this with them? What will they do if I don't pay? Thanks in advance for any advice.
