Disputing Ticket Fine By Car Share App

Hello, I use the car share app Free2move occasionally in DC for transporting purposes and yesterday they sent me a fine for a ticket the car received at 4:14pm bc it was in a no stand zone during rush hours (4-7:30pm). I parked the car legally in the zone at 12:12pm. The fine was about ~$125 and for 6/08/26. They then sent me the same thing for a basically identical occurrence on 6/22/26. I’d parked in the same area except at 1:26pm and didn’t know it was against their terms and conditions because I had received the first fine only 6 hours earlier even though there was a 2 weeks difference between the incidents.

Their response to my appeal was:

“According to our terms and conditions:
C.Trips cannot be made if there are parking restrictions coming within 48 hours: including street sweeping and all other restrictions based on time of day will be charged for everything tickets.
D. Vehicles cannot be parked in a measured space with a limit of less than 2 hours.
E. No vehicle may park in a rush hour lane at any time.
Accordingly, you were deemed responsible for the ticket, and the charge cannot be cancelled.”

I learned in a law class I took 2 semesters ago that a contract only includes the terms of which the parties had notice.
Which I was taught a party has notice of a term,
1. If the party was aware
2. Or the party should have been aware, i.e., the term was conspicuous
3. Or the party could reasonably have expected the term to be there.

I believe it is not reasonable for me to expect to pay for a fine that occurs to the vehicle many hours after I’ve parked it legally. Furthermore, the terms are not conspicuous in the terms and condition ( not bolded, highlighted, etc), and it’s not as if they gave me a pop up as I was ending my ride about the restrictions.

Do you believe I can get out of this? It’s totaled to over $250 now and I’m a financially struggling fresh out of university 23yr old.
