Dog Bite - Considering Lawsuit

Card image cap

Location: Massachusetts. While on vacation in the U.S., I was bitten by an unleashed pitbull in a public park. The attack was entirely unprovoked (I just happened to stand nearby). The owners clearly acted irresponsibly, as their pitbull had prior incidents (according to animal control) and they were not supposed to be in that area with a dog to begin with. They also repeatedly lied to law enforcement / animal control, trying to claim their dog had been leashed and was “a mix”, when he was very clearly a rednose pitbull. I suffered a pretty deep bite to my buttock, resulting in me needing to go to urgent care, getting a vaccine and needing antibiotics. It also resulted in intense health-related anxiety and effectively ruined my vacation. I understand that in the large scheme of things, I was incredibly lucky, but the dog owners’ lack of responsibility and their total silence after the incident (they have our contact info) makes me consider contacting a personal injury lawyer. Just looking for any advice or outside perspectives on this!
