Done Wrong By St. Louis County. (tax Auction)
Location: St. Louis, Missouri
I need some direction on where to go. My husband is a 100% total and permanent disabled veteran who participated in the 2024 tax auction for houses. He was successfully granted the deed for a home that he won in the tax auction by St. Louis County. He paid the property taxes and did everything correctly and we later found out that the home was under bankruptcy by the previous owner. Our lawyer tried to get the bankruptcy lawyer to convince the owner to allow us to just have ownership, but ultimately the bankruptcy lawyer did not do his part and now everything is just kind of hanging in the air.
My lawyer basically does not want to deal with it anymore and we have no idea what to do. St. Louis County wrongfully sold us that home while it was under bankruptcy and at this point, we just want our money back for the house that we paid in the auction and the money back that we paid for the property taxes for 2023 and 2024 because now they are expecting us to also pay 2025 taxes, but they will not allow us to even obtain the proper title to the home because it technically still belongs to the other owner, even though we have the deed and are also listed as owners. This shit is stupid and confusing and should be a lot easier but again we have no idea what to do who to talk to and we need to know if anybody has any clue or idea of what we can do.
