Ex-boyfriend Left 500 Pound Chiro Table At My Condo

Card image cap

Hi everyone,

I’m posting on behalf of a friend.

Location: Southern CA

My friend’s ex-boyfriend moved (with the help of 6 people) his 500 pound chiro table into the second floor of her condo, so that he could do some business there. He had no lease, but lived at her place for a few months until they broke up.

It’s been several months since they broke up, and he won’t do anything to get the table out of her condo. We’ve tried to help her remove it, but the weight and the narrow stairway down make it practically impossible without the risk of injury or property damage. She’s contacted several moving companies, and the average quote is ~$700.

Is there any legal recourse (preferably quick) that she can take to force his hand to move it? Ideally for him to pay movers, so that he won’t need to go into her place with other people to attempt himself.

EDIT: posting it on for-sale websites isn’t working. 1) people are backing out once they find out the weight
2) having a non family/friend or professional mover move it themselves is a huge liability risk. If that falls on them at the stairs that’s an immediate ER visit.

EDIT 2: this is a 7-8 foot table built with pure metal and porcelain.

EDIT 3: having anyone besides a professional mover or family/friend move the table is out of the question unfortunately. This is a HUGE liability risk for her.

Edit 4: Google Zenith Hy-lo table for an idea of what the table looks like.

Edit 5: is there any legal recourse she can take to force him to pay for the movers? Approx $700.
