Fainted While Driving, Got A Concussion, Arrested Under Suspicion Of Being Impaired While Completely Sober.

Location: upstate ny, USA.

Full story: last month, I either fainted or had a seizure while driving. This is the first time it has ever happened. The speed limit was 35, I was clocked going 25 until I drifted into a tree.

The air bag didn’t go off and my face smashed into the steering wheel with full force. I lost about 5-6 hours of memory, and had every symptom of a level 3 concussion. I was unconscious for like half an hour?

They assumed I was drunk, breathalized me, it was zero. I haven’t even smoked weed in 20 years. So sober.

They did the field test, and I was having all the symptoms of a concussion, staggering, dizzy, vomiting, slurring.. so they arrest me assuming I was stoned. (Again totally sober)

They invite a behavior analyst, and he says I’m either on pcp or HUFFING GASOLINE. (I am not kidding, my husband laughed in the cops face. ) I’m now having difficulty staying awake or sitting up at the station. They breathalized me again, 0.00. It’s now been about 4-5 hours after I woke up in my car with the cops knocking.

We go to the hospital for the blood draw, we are waiting on the results. They did a very very light scan and screening. They were not particularly caring because they assumed I was just high… again, I was not.

My main thing is that I’m not on social media. If you google my name, this is like.. the only thing that comes up. I’ve never even gotten a parking ticket and I’m 35.

It seems as though all of the symptoms I was having, we should have gone straight to the hospital. Like, it’s not illegal to have a medical event while driving. Now I have all this legal shit, and all over the internet the only thing when you google my name is that I was arrested for a dui. I do not drive impaired ever.

Like if I have a mimosa at brunch, I’m not driving til AFTER dinner.

So anyway, I still don’t remember anything and am just getting over some of the symptoms of the concussion. My bruising just healed a couple days ago. Headaches and nausea is just clearing up.

My car is totaled. I’m just a little lost and frustrated. My insurance is going to be insane. I know the drug testing is going to come back clean, so they can’t stick anything to me, but what do you all think?

I’m a really really responsible driver. It’s just frustrating. Anything I can do?
