Fiancé's Dad Has Taken Her Younger Sisters Mattress Away And Is Now Feeding Her 2 Slices Of Bread For Dinner.

Location: Utah/Arizona

A little bit of context. My Fiancé grew up in the FLDS religion (polygamists) in Utah/Arizona. Her sister is 14 and has been growing closer to us and is giving us semi-regular updates to what is going on in their house.

We try to have her sister come over at least once a month to give her a bit of a "vacation" for a couple days but now their dad is rarely allowing her to come stay the night. He has taken her door off the hinges (not to mention her older brother (17) has tried to assault her). And the most recent updates we've gotten from her is that he has taken her mattress away and only allowing her to have 2 slices of bread for dinner.

We want to try to adopt her legally but just don't know where to start. I grew up in Utah but definitely not anywhere near the FLDS religion. She (my fiancé) dealt with years of abuse and neglect from their dad.

Is there anybody that has dealt with a similar situation? Just not sure about the best way to go about this.

Yes we will talk to a lawyer but a lot of people living here are too forgiving for that religion(cult).

We are trying to get her sister to document any kind of evidence possible but she doesn't have a phone and regularly has her laptop taken away for meaningless reasons. I've given her a flash drive to hopefully keep what does happen in a text form but I feel like that won't be nearly enough to convince a judge to consider allowing us to have custody.

Edit: We are in Utah, they are in Arizona
