Ring Camera Dispute

Card image cap

My parents were recorded walking their dog and someone posted ring footage of them on a Facebook page and said that our dog used the bathroom and it wasn’t cleaned up. But the footage only shows them walking by the house, they never stopped. This was posted in a community Facebook group and the poster is harassing my mother by saying she will have a codes enforcer ticket them, etc.

While this is not a big deal, my mother asked the person to take it down and was refused. I understand that recording of a public space (the sidewalk) is legal, but is there any grounds to tell the person to take it down?

We have had our own share of dogs and owners leave things behind in our yard. My parents are very conscientious of cleaning up at all times. I sincerely think this person just picked the first dog they saw after finding this in their yard.

Location: We are in Pennsylvania, which I know 2 party consent isn’t really applicable to public space.
