Filed Insurance Claim And The Defendant Showed Up At My House
Location: GA, US. My car got hit in a parking lot while inside a store. The driver fled but there were witnesses who saw the incident and shared info with me. I filed a police report since I didn’t know who did it. I used my insurance to get it fixed.
The insurance of the defender called me a few weeks ago to gather info because my insurance wants to recover the deductible. Today, the guy who hit my car shows up at my house saying he’ll pay for everything. I told him that’s not how this works and that he needs to work it out through the insurance. I also said I’ll call the police if he returns.
Seeing he has a recent Escalade and another electric car (he showed up twice before I answered the door) I don’t know why him paying his deductible would be such an issue?! I am confused as to how he even got my information because I have none of theirs.
I’m not sure if there’s any legal recourse, but what can or should I do to protect myself?
