Financing Company Coming After Me For Money I Didn't Agree To

Card image cap

Tldr; shopped around for laser hair removal, decided against a company, found out much later that they charged me anyway. Laser hair removal company went bankrupt, financing company still hounding me for money.

Location: Boston

Last June 2025, I called "Laser Hair Removal Company 1" (LHRC1) to discuss signing up for a package. I realized halfway that they don't have locations near me so I said I changed my mind and didn't want it anymore. Later that day I signed up with a different company, Laser Hair Company 2. "Healthcare Finance Company" (HFC) affiliated with LHRC1, and I don't have any recollection talking to them or filling out any forms. Importantly, I didn't decide on a package with Ideal Image and obviously didn't receive any services.

HFC starts charging me $91 every other month and I don't think much of it because I think it's with Laseraway. Something happened to my credit card, so the number gets changed, HFC stops getting money and starts calling me sometime in February. I have no idea who they are and think it's a scam. They allege that they have my signature and information, and then I find out that they're related to Ideal Image and tell me to take it up with them. I call Ideal Image and find out that they went bankrupt. I call HFC that I never made an agreement and file a dispute in their department. I don't hear anything from them until a few weeks ago.

I finally call my credit card company and they say it's too far from the original date but since I never received any services they file it anyway and return my credit. Now HFC is calling me and sends me the agreement that I reportedly signed, which has an electronic signature that's autopopulated with my name and initials in the fake computer-generated signature font. It does have my address of the time and contact info.

It's $1600 that I reportedly owe. Is this worth taking further or will it cost me more headache and money than just paying it? Do I even have any avenues? I'm worried my credit is taking a hit.

Thanks in advance.
