Former Employer Is Still Using My Master Electrician License For New Permits More Than Two Months After I Left, And A City Inspector Just Contacted Me About Work I Have Never Seen

I was the Master Electrician of Record for a small electrical contractor until I resigned at the beginning of June. I gave written notice, worked through my final date and kept the emails confirming when my employment ended.

A city inspector called me last week about corrections on a commercial job. At first I thought he had the wrong person because I had never been to that address. He read me the permit information and my name and master license number were attached to it.

That made me start checking permit databases in other cities where my former employer operates. So far I have found six permits issued after I left. Three were issued in August, well over a month after my last day. I haven't inspected, supervised or even seen any of these projects.

I contacted the owner in writing. His response was basically that changing the Master Electrician of Record “takes time” and that the company had a grace period while they found somebody else. He also said the permits were under the company's contractor license, so my personal license wasn't at risk.

That doesn't make much sense to me considering my license number is literally on the permits.

I have screenshots of every permit I found, my resignation emails and his response acknowledging they haven't replaced me yet.

Do I need to notify TDLR myself that I stopped being their Master Electrician of Record? And is there a formal way to make sure I am not treated as responsible for work they permitted under my license after my seperation?
