Found Out Coworker Is A Convicted Chmo. Is It Legal For My Job To Invite Him To Events Where Kids Are Also Present Without Informing Anyone?

Location: Michigan.

Ive been with this company for about a year, and some co-workers and myself just found out that one of they guys on my team was convicted in 2004 for 2nd and 3rd degree sexual conduct with a minor in his family. He served his 15 years and was obviously released and put on the MSPSOR, which is how we found out via the map. My question is about this work picnic we have every year in the spring. He comes every year and drinks and nobody has ever known about his past until last week. We are encouraged to bring our kids, nieces, and other family members to this event where they have free food and drinks (including alcohol). This is a child centered event; think face painting, balloon animals, etc. Is it legal for them to invite him to these things and encourage us to bring our kids without informing us that a convicted child molester will be there and allowed to drink?? It makes me insanely uncomfortable and upset because i would have NEVER brought my little niece around him had i known previously that he was a predator. Any advice is appreciated and welcome!
