Girlfriend Witnessed Violent Crime. Restraining Order And Public Record Putting An Unnecessary Target On Her?

Hi everyone.

Location: Tennessee

This past weekend my girlfriend witnessed a violent crime right outside of her house. A man and a few others beat a women that they seemed to know due to conversation between them right before. One of them punched the women pretty badly and then threw her in a car to drive away.

My girlfriend and her roommate recorded most of the encounter and called the police immediately. Long story short they ended up catching the guys and the women is okay.

Here is where I need some insight: my girlfriend is very worried that she could have a target on her now. She was the one who called 911 and she has been told by the court offices that her name is public info because she made the call. Moreover the video that they submitted for evidence makes it easy to see where they were recording from (she lives in the only house nearby to where the incident occurred).

The final reason she is worried is that due to the laws where we live the court immediately issued a restraining order on the perpetrator to stay away from my girlfriend since she was “the witness to a violent crime.” However we were told in order to issue the order you have to notify the person the order is against who exactly they can’t go near. For context we live in Tennessee.

So we are worried that this guy (or any of his friends) at the very least know her name and know where she lives. We realize it would be bizarre for these guys to come back out to her area just because she was the one who made the 911 call, but the chances aren’t zero and the guy (and friends) who hit the women was obviously violent + unhinged.

I have a few questions.

Can anyone educate us on why they would create a restraining order that could potentially reveal the identity of the person who called 911 on you? Is that really how it works? The lady at the court offices seemed really unsure.

Is there anyway we can keep her name out of public record on this as much as possible?
