Got Hit From Behind And Got Pushed Into Another Vehicle. Apparently Nothing Can Move Because The Driver Of The Car I Got Pushed Into Is Awol.

Hello, I was crashed into a few months ago in Location: California. I was waiting at a red light for several seconds, no hard braking, literally just waiting at a red light for 15 seconds when I got hit. I left a lot of space between me and the car in front but obviously I got hit hard, everything is on video. Very minor damage to the front of car.

The people from the vehicle I hit came after like 10 minutes to talk with me honestly they gave me a super weird vibe, they wanted to fuck off as soon as possible and they said that they had no damages and didn’t care, so we didn’t exchange information. They left before the cops came.

Apparently now nobody can contact them. I found the license plate through the dash cam, the crashers insurance is trying to contact them but no success. In practice my lawyer told me that unless they reply anything back, I won’t get anything until the statute of limitations run out, and the front car can’t claim anything. I didn’t have collision and just had the bare minimum insurance.

What can be done? 3 years is too long for me. I contact my lawyer and ask him for any word of advice and he either lectures me on things I should’ve done, or is depressed. I have the car street parked and practically abandoned, but I can’t be dragging the car around, it was declared a total loss already.

What could be done with this? I seriously don’t buy the whole statute of limitations thing, and just think the insurance is pulling any trick in the book to stall.
