Grandparent Rights In Nc

A quick background on my situation -
My husband committed suicide two months ago. Leaving me, a stay at home mom, and his ten month old daughter with nothing. Fast forward to now, I am in grief counseling and personal counseling, I am back in school, have employment lined up, etc., I am doing everything to creat a safe, stable environment for my daughter and I.

Now here comes his mom who stole from me (she stole things from my husband and my family house, I have her on camera), she hacked into his personal accounts (Instagram, bank account), and she went through our personal property/lied about it. She has not been involved in our daughters life other than visiting her three times since she was born. She has not contributed financially.

Since she has acted so inappropriately, I asked her for space and said I would reach out to her when I was ready to rebuild a relationship. I didn’t even confront her about her inappropriate actions, I simply wanted her out of my life for the time being. This morning, I recievef a note from a lawyer stating that she is requesting a visitation schedule, and she wants our dog (my husbands dog, who is now legally mine and as far as I know her name is not on any of the vet bills/ownership paperwork if there even is any). In the letter it states that she will proceeded to sue me over visitation and my dog if I do not agree to her terms.

We are in North Carolina. She has no right to any of her demands, right? I am trying so hard to get my life back on track for our daughter. To make sure she is surrounded by stability and love. This is the last thing I needed to worry about.
