Held Hostage At Computer Store

Card image cap

Hey guys,

Location: Nashville, TN

I recently parted out my computer to a local PC store with a private owner.

I upgraded my ram and decided to sell the PC back 2 weeks later since i’m switching hobbies, they even called me to come bring in my upgraded ram as I told them I had extra. I brought everything back, apparently the GPU i sold them stopped working and they wanted me to pay them. I was ready to take half responsibility and pay for half of it ($400) if they wanted to buy my 5080 tower I got from them at a reasonable price ($2700) they either wanted to pay $2000 for the pc or take my 5080 and replace it with the “dead” GPU i sold them. I wanted to leave with my PC without selling them anything else. Everything worked when I sold it. The owner also said he didn’t want to tell me the card died over the phone before I came in. It worked for weeks in their store before someone took it home.

They tried to physically hold me and my pc in the store for 2 hours even after they closed till I called the police and tried to take my pc back. Is that legal?

The police asked me to file a report after they called me back but i left with my pc and had a friend waiting for a long time. They said to call back to file a report. Never going back
