How To Charge For Mileage And Pto?

Card image cap

Hey all. In early August my cat was attacked by a cane corso resulting in thousands of dollars in veterinary bills (she's healed now). I'm planning to take him (the owner, who we identified and confirmed owns the dogs) to small claims for damage to property.* Calculating the monetary part of it is easy, with invoices from the vet hospitals, but how do you charge for non-monetary items like mileage and time lost from work?

Mileage is upwards of 400+, probably over 500, as I ended up taking her to Auburn, AL vet school. It's 100 miles one way and I had to pick her up later in the week. I used pto for work so I was technically paid, but that's pto that I need for other stuff (e.g reoccurring appointments unrelated to the dog attack).

Location: (South) Fulton County, GA (e.g Atlanta)

* Per Georgia law, animals are considered as property. The dogs damaged "property," my cat, which had to be repaired by specialty services (i.e the vet). Please let me know if I'm misunderstanding this or the validity of the claim.
