Ex Roommate Stole Belongings And Wouldnt Let Us In The House When We Found Out

so, long story short i (20 f) found out my roommate (22f) was abusing her girlfriend (22f) physically, mentally, and financially so i told her i couldnt move in with her if she didnt seek out help for that. she ended up not trying at all so me and her got into an argument one day and i told her that my husband and i wont be moving in anymore and we left to go to my husbands parents house.

we texted the girlfriend a few days later and told her we were gonna be picking up our belongings (we wanted as little contact with the abusive one as possible if youre wondering why) and she didnt respond for a full day so we texted her again to let her know. she ends up telling us that her and her girlfriend packed all of our belongings into boxes and put it in the garage. this is my first issue because we literally gave them money to live there and keep our things there.

so we go to the house, we text the abusive one and ask her to open the garage. since they packed our things for us, we opened all the boxes and went through them in her garage to make sure everything was there and lo and behold we were missing a lot of things. we were missing part of a tupperware set, part of our pot and pans set, our knife sharpener, and more so we told her to let us inside. she said she "wasnt comfortable with that" so my husband told her he would call the police if she didnt, so she said she would go inside and look harder. she came back out with a trashbag partially full of tupperware and one pan. no lids btw. my husband ended up accepting it and not calling the police, and we left. when we got home i realized my bag of expensive name brand clothing was stolen as well and now im wanting to pursue legal action against her.

i know she did similar things to a past roommate too and they had to get the cops involved then too, but that was in the moment everything was happening. its been about a week and a half now since we left with our boxes of stuff and im just wondering what i can do legally? i was thinking about calling the local PD and explaining the situation and asking if someone will come with me so i can go inside (i know the door code still) but im not sure if the PD will help at all so i wanted to come here and ask how i should move forward with this because i need those clothes back badly, it was half a trash bag full of name brand clothes i bought! just let me know what you guys think about all this, im open to a lot of different ways of dealing with this.

edit: i do have text message proof of me paying her money to live there and proof of them not letting us in the house.
