I Got Sued And I Need Advice
Hello there, ty for reading my post. My wife and i have been together for over 12 years and in that time we were very poor for most of it. The most i ever made was like, 38k. Fast forward to now and in 33 making 103k a year and she is making about 15-20k part time. Over this time period we were able to buy a home at a great rate back in 2019 so all together i think we are doing well. But in those years we racked up a lot of credit card debt and it's at 36k right now. I just got a loan to consolidate all the payments, i was paying about 1500 a month, and now I'll only be paying 500 a month so this is huge. I was planning on paying all the cc debt out later this week, well today i just got served for one of the cc's whom we owe 11k to.
I was wondering since we just got served should i still pay off the debt right now? Or could this be an opportunity to settle for less? Like, we owe 11k but do you think if i offered to pay 8000 that same day do you think they would accept it and close the account?
